Tools that Work: Enhancing Inclusion in Consulting

This event is free for all employees of CEA member firms.

Effective diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) integration requires an understanding of best practices that work. In this interactive session, we will learn how to use a global DEI benchmarking framework to identify gaps, challenges, and successes within our organizations and be equipped with action-based tools to support progress and sustainable change. 

Presenters

Meghana Valupadas 
Meghana (she/her/hers) is a professional engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta and a Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP™). As the corporate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leader of Winpak Ltd., and owner of her own DEI consulting firm, Kind World Consulting, she develops and implements DEI strategy through innovative programming, employee and leadership development and coaching, and education and workshop facilitation. Meghana was identified by Engineers Canada as a 30 by 30 EDI Leader, and was the recipient of the 2019 University of Alberta Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award and the 2019 Ivan Finlay Leadership Award for her work improving EDI in engineering education and industry.

Dr. Lianne M. Lefsrud
Lianne (she/her/hers) is a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Director Outreach. She has two decades' experience in regulation, railroading (including locomotive engineer training), construction, oilfield, water resources, and environmental consulting. She has a B.Sc. in Civil, an interdisciplinary M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering and Sociology, and a PhD in Strategy. Her research has been awarded $10.2 million, 30+ awards, and supervision of 96 students (PhD, MEng, MSc, and Undergrad) – many of whom have won awards and scholarships including Fulbright, Aga Khan, and National Geographic. Her work experiences have motivated her involvement in initiatives with WISEST, APEGA, NSERC, and the US National Science Foundation.

Cancellation Policy

In order to receive a partial refund, a request for cancellation must be received by email at finance@cea.ca prior to the registration deadline. No refunds will be provided after the refund cut-off date of the event. To avoid disappointment, early registration for activities is encouraged as space may be limited.

Refunds will be subject to a $25.00 administrative fee.

Substitutions are welcome. Please contact the CEA office with any changes: finance@cea.ca or 780-421-1852.

CEA has the right to cancel an activity due to low attendance, a full refund will then be offered.
