Code of Practice for Wetland Replacement Works

June 24, 2021
  1. Details
  2. Fees

The focus of this session is to provide an overview of the Code of Practice for Wetland Replacement Works. The code came into force on December 23, 2020 and has been a key red tape reduction for proponents restoring or constructing wetlands by replacing Water Act approval requirements with a notice process for activities that meet the Code. This will result in eliminating approval wait times. It will also will help to increase participation in conservation offset programs, accelerate the addition of wetlands on the landscape, and stimulate Alberta’s economy by creating the right regulatory and economic conditions for wetland replacement proponents.

The Code is available in the Open Government Portal: https://open.alberta.ca/publications/code-of-practice-for-wetland-replacement-works
