Description:

As a part of Amec Foster Wheeler’s continued growth, our Calgary office has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Municipal Engineer as a Team Lead. We are seeking a motivated candidate who combines strong technical skills with a keen interest in team leadership, project management, business development and client relationship management. The successful candidate will have experience in a variety of urban infrastructure projects including, but not limited to, municipal utilities (storm and sanitary sewers, water distribution, water and wastewater treatment), utility master planning, asset management, roads and transportation, and will have demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility over their career.

 

The successful candidate will work in a team environment where experienced senior staff are supported by intermediate and junior technical staff. Senior staff are expected to be self-starters with a desire to grow the business and support the development of younger staff. Suitable candidates will enjoy working in a team environment and bring strengths in oral and written communication.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume technical and business leadership of a growing municipal engineering team

  • Expand business opportunities, develop client relationships and lead project pursuits

  • Support project execution and ensure project quality management

  • Manage and deliver complex municipal engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams through pursuit, planning, design, and construction phases

Qualifications:

Skills / Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering; M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Civil Engineering or PMP designation is an asset

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in municipal engineering, with considerable experience on project work in Canada or the USA, and at least 5 years of experience managing and mentoring technical staff

  • Registered with or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with APEGA

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience as a Project Manager or Team Leader for municipal engineering projects, including specific design and construction experience in water, sanitary and stormwater projects for both new project works and renewal and replacement of existing infrastructure systems

  • Strong knowledge of the Calgary and Southern Alberta municipal market

  • Experience and training in project management

  • Proven record of success in business development, client relationship building, strategic project pursuits and proposal preparation

  • The ability to lead teams and mentor younger staff

  • A deep understanding of the business of consulting engineering
