Description:

We are currently searching for an Intermediate Civil Engineer in our Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, or Calgary office. 

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team active on a wide range of infrastructure projects, that include water mains, sanitary sewers, drainage and roadways. You will provide technical expertise and project coordination while demonstrating resourcefulness, and adaptability in your role. You will have hands-on involvement in advancing projects through the concept, design and construction phases, preparing proposals.  You will also have opportunities to be involved in leading and managing projects and developing new clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Project Engineer, working as part of a team with a mix of senior and junior staff, and following applicable design guides and standards.
  • Completing engineering designs and working with project teams to ensure that contract drawings are accurately prepared and checked
  • Preparing written technical reports including but not limited to feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, construction specifications, and design criteria reports.
  • Performing construction administration/inspection.
  • Overseeing project schedules, budgets and reporting requirements.
  • Communicating effectively and clearly; both verbally and in writing with clients.
  • Coordinating sub-consultants' activity on projects.
  • Executing projects in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
  • Engaging in a collaborative work environment with your team, as well as other disciplines and offices.

Qualifications:

What you will bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • 5+ years of civil design experience in Alberta. Construction experience is an asset.
  • Experience in transportation design, stormwater design, municipal infrastructure and/or land development is an asset.
  • Proficiency in the use of Civil 3D & PCSWMM.
  • Experience with spreadsheets and related computer software for civil design.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with both internal and external clients.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Committed team player and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel within Alberta.
