Description:

We are currently searching for a Solid Waste Management Engineer in our Calgary office. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks and develop your skills in many areas. This position provides many opportunities to collaborate with talented people. You will be given opportunities for advancement within the company, while receiving constructive feedback to foster your career growth.  

Your responsibilities will include leading and supporting designs of solids waste management facilities in western Canada, focusing primarily on the municipal sector. Your design activities will include technical reports, detailed designs, and providing technical support during construction. You will support facility planning, giving consideration to operational, regulatory and financial priorities. You will coordinate closely with our environmental specialists and support environmental approvals. You will oversee our organization remaining current on regulatory requirements and industry trends. You will also have a leading role in advancing our solids waste management practice, including developing and executing marketing strategies and proposal writing.

Qualifications:

What you will bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university. Holding a Masters or PhD degree would be an asset.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • 5+ years solids waste management experience with an emphasis on industrial and municipal landfills as well as transfer stations and waste diversion.
  • Proven application of government and industry regulations, standards, guidelines, design and specifications in the solid waste environment.
  • Experience with facilitating regulatory and environmental approvals for solid waste facilities. 
  • Field experience.
  • Familiarity with landfill gas systems, evapotranspiration, biocaps, and quantification of greenhouse gases would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with contaminated sites would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D would be an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability travel within western Canada.
