Role Overview

McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. has an opportunity for an Intermediate / Senior Municipal Engineer to join our team in Edmonton, AB. The successful candidate will work on Stormwater Infrastructure Designs, Utility Planning & Design, Water Resource Engineering and Urban Retrofit (Streetscape) assignments. The current working group delivers stimulating and unique projects to a variety of high-profile, municipal clients and is looking to add similarly minded staff to our fast-paced team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide experienced and skilled engineering and management of municipal and land development projects from proposal stage through construction; projects could include the following aspects:
    • Water storage, supply and distribution
    • Sanitary sewage pumping, collection
    • Storm water management
    • Road rehabilitation / reconstruction design including surface works
    • Site servicing
    • Site grading, land development, and drainage
    • Water resources
    • Water and wastewater treatment
  • Preparation of documents required for approvals, development and construction cost estimates and tender documents and contracts
  • Communicate and work in an integrated team environment to ensure project schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained
  • Managing technical staff participating on projects
  • Analyze markets to capitalize on developing new client relationships and business opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with 10+ years’ (Senior) 5+ years’ (Intermediate) of progressive experience in municipal and land development projects.
  • Experience in Western Canada and specifically Edmonton would be an asset
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in Alberta, or eligibility to be registered.
  • Experience as a Project Manager, successfully delivering projects on budget and schedule
  • Proven track record of client and business development would be considered an asset
  • Demonstration of excellent writing skills is essential in the preparation of proposals and technical reports
  • Proven design abilities, including working use of design software (e.g. ACAD / Civil 3D)
  • High productivity, attention to detail and an ability to work well in a team environment are essential
