Role Overview

If so, McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. has a rewarding opportunity for an individual to be the engineering leader of our well-established and growing office in Kitimat as a Division Manager! 
This role is best suited for an experienced Professional Engineer with excellent leadership abilities and solid technical skills. As our Division Manager—Engineering, you would have the opportunity to work with a great team of engineers, surveyors and support staff on a wide range of exciting municipal, power, oil and gas, land development, marine, heavy civil, and transportation projects. In Kitimat, we can offer a small office feel with challenging projects that are varied and engaging.

Location 
Kitimat is a modern planned community established in the 1950’s to support the operation of Rio Tinto Alcan’s Kitimat Aluminum Smelter. To attract and retain workers, Alcan invested considerable time and money in creating a safe and family-oriented community. The community provides access to unparallel recreational activities including world-class freshwater and ocean fishing, snowmobiling, downhill and cross-country skiing, camping and lake activities all within a short drive.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical, logistical, and financial aspects of designated engineering projects and participate in their execution.
  • Supervise and mentor engineering staff and foster an engaged culture with strong technical capabilities.
  • Assist Branch Manager in branch operations including business development, workload, staffing, equipment, safety, quality, and financial outcomes. 
  • Assist Branch Manager in development and execution of branch strategic plans and budgets.
  • Nurture existing and develop new strategic relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners.
  • Represent McElhanney to the external environment including clients, businesses, and professional associations to enhance McElhanney’s positive public profile.

Qualifications:

Requirements

  • Strong technical skills in engineering with 5+ years of technical experience
  • Aptitude for leadership, continuous learning, knowledge sharing and relationship building.
  • Proficient in anticipating problems and executing appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate responsibilities, and motivate others to produce high-level results.
  • Proven ability to attract and retain clients, win projects and consistently provide high quality deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Registration in good standing as an Engineer in British Columbia or ability to obtain registration through existing inter-jurisdictional agreements
