Kitimat is a modern planned community established in the 1950’s to support the operation of Rio Tinto Alcan’s Kitimat Aluminum Smelter. Role Overview

McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. has a rewarding opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our branch in Kitimat, B.C.! This is an amazing opportunity for an individual who has an excellent technical background, looking for a chance to grow their career with a well-established local workload. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on unique, major projects, from municipal development to heavy civil earthworks. Further, the Kitimat region is currently at the forefront of major growth in the LNG Market Sector, providing our staff with exciting projects work on.

Responsibilities

• Manage client relationships including initial contact, scope definition and preparing proposals
• Lead the design process for varied Civil engineering projects which includes the preparation of engineering designs, reports, drawings and specifications to meet client and regulatory requirements
• Take professional responsibility for work products prepared
• Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required to obtain project approvals including construction cost estimates and contracts
• Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, safety and quality control standards are achieved.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university plus 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia or ability to obtain registration through existing inter-jurisdictional agreements
• High productivity, attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work well in a team environment
• Proficiency in the application of specialized design software, Civil 3D, as well as other related software is an asset
• Experience in a consulting engineering environment is an asset
