Description:

Our Saskatoon branch is growing, and we are looking to add a capable and enthusiastic Civil Engineer-in-Training to the existing team of professionals providing quality service to our municipal, land development, and Indigenous clients across Saskatchewan.

 

In this role, you will benefit from the support of industry professionals while working on exciting and challenging projects that make a visible difference in many communities. Assisting in the planning, design, and consultation on several projects, you will have the opportunity to hone your civil engineering skills and develop an understanding of best practices in a practical, real world setting. In addition to the learning and project experience you will receive, you can expect to be responsible for the following:  

 

• Apply theory and provide workable solutions related to the implementation of engineering work specifically regarding water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater management, road design, and general municipal engineering;

• Act as the clients' representative on-site during construction to gather information, conduct inspections, and ensure that designs are built to specifications;

• Provide accurate and timely input on technical reports, plans, studies, proposals, and oral presentations as required;

• Prepare cost estimates and review contracts;

• Proactively and professionally communicate with contractors, co-workers, clients, and the public; and

• Demonstrate a commitment to learning through the ongoing achievement of personal and professional goals.  

Qualifications:

About You

 

The right candidate for this opportunity will have either recently graduated (within 1-2 years) or be graduating in the spring of 2018 from an accredited civil engineering degree. In addition, the ideal candidate for this position will possess the following skills and attributes: 

 

• You have a keen interest in pursuing a career in civil engineering with a focus on municipal, sanitary, and stormwater systems design and construction;

• You are interested in a role that will provide a mix of both field and office work;

• You can work on multiple projects and thrive in a fast paced, self-directed work environment;

• You take initiative, are a problem solver, and continually deliver consistent, high quality work;

• You take great pride in your work, don’t mind getting your hands dirty, and believe no job is too small; 

• You are suited to consulting given your instincts for: 

o Providing great service to internal and external clients.

o Collaborating with people of varying backgrounds and perspectives 

o Employing multiple communication styles to deliver information to internal and external clients

o Providing practical solutions to problems 

• You have strong oral and written communication skills;

• You are able to travel to project sites within Saskatchewan, hold a valid class 5 drivers license and, have access to a vehicle;

• You are registered or eligible for registration as an engineer-in-training in Saskatchewan; and

• You have on-site field experience (an asset).
