Construction of the 48402-square-metre (8 football fields) facility began in 2015 and costs $143 million. The facility is made up of three buildings and processes 145,500 metric tons of residential food waste and dewatered biosolids annually. The composting process takes approximately 60 days to process waste into a nutrient rich compost.
