If we accept that climate is changing, a good question to ask is: So what? This presentation aims to present a background a sense of the efforts globally, in Canada and in Alberta, related to an answer to that question in the form of climate change adaptation. The focus will be on understanding climate change vulnerability and exploring one proposed approach to assessing it. The presentation will conclude with some thoughts on the tremendous potential opportunity for consulting engineers. Could vulnerability assessments be the new “site assessments” – 30 years later?
