Description:

Our thriving Calgary office is looking to hire an enthusiastic Water Resources Engineer-in-Training to add to our established Water Practice team.  

Our team of engineering professionals is committed to providing exceptional service to our existing clients in Calgary and the surrounding communities.  Our work to date has focused on integrated urban water management services, such as storm system design and analysis for land development projects, master drainage planning and associated studies, community retrofit projects, sanitary system and potable water system design, and strategic projects based on our clients needs.  

In this role you will work closely alongside other experienced Professional Engineers in our branch.  We would expect you to initially be involved in the following type of project work:

  • Development of stormwater, sanitary and potable water models
  • Storm system analysis and design
  • Catchment delineation, verification and analysis
  • Assistance with report preparation and data manipulation
  • Assistance with project documentation
  • Assistance with proposal preparation
  • Engineering design for a variety of projects

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate is a recent graduate of a civil, water resources or environmental engineering degree program and has a keen interest in water and stormwater related work. Previous experience in a consulting based environment is considered an asset, as well as experience working with local municipalities and First Nations clients.  

Our goal is to fill this position with the right person and so candidates who are from a qualified civil engineering technologist program, with experience in stormwater modeling and design, may also be considered. Our successful candidates will also posses the following skills, strengths and interests:  

  • Desire to further develop engineering skills in a consulting practice, serving a variety of government and private sector clients
  • Strong interest in water resources and watershed protection
  • Ability to apply theory and provide workable solutions related to the implementation of engineering work specifically related to stormwater management, sanitary distribution systems and water distribution systems
  • Able to multitask and thrive in a self-directed work environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A knowledge of software tools such as AutoCAD, PCSWMM and SWMHYMMO would be considered an asset
