President

Gord Johnston, P.Eng., holds both a Bachelor and Masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta, and has 25 years of private and public sector experience. He is a Vice President with Stantec Consulting and is responsible for Stantec’s North American Water practice. Gord has served for 3 years on the CEA Board of Directors and participated in the CEA UK recruitment initiative. He is past Chair of the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association’s Biosolids Committee and is a certified Project Management Professional

Vice President

Sheldon Hudson, P.Eng. graduated from the University of Alberta in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in the Cooperative Program. Immediately following graduation, Sheldon joined Al-Terra Engineering Ltd. where he started working in the areas of land development and transportation.  Since 1997 he has focused mainly on rural transportation projects and has progressed to manager of the highway engineering group, while retaining some land development files. Sheldon is currently the Vice President of Al-Terra and as such, has become very involved in corporate as well as project management. Sheldon is active in CEA, as he is a past chair of the Transportation Committee, as well as an active participant on the tri-party Operations Committee and the Strategic Priorities Group. In addition to Sheldon’s professional activities, he is also committed to his family and the community in which they live, providing support to local schools, groups, and organizations.

Treasurer

Randy Block, P.Eng., is a Principal with Focus Corporation and currently holds the position of Regional Manager for the engineering services division in the Edmonton Region. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 1978 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. Randy has over 30 years experience in the consulting engineering industry providing services on a broad range of engineering assignments including urban roadways and highways, municipal infrastructure, land development and industrial plant facilities. Randy has been an active member of the CEA Transportation Committee and has served as one of the CEA representatives on a joint AT/CEA/ARHCA strategic planning group.

DiBattista-Jeff1

Past President

Jeff DiBattista, P.Eng., is a passionate supporter of engineering education and the pursuit of excellence in the consulting engineering industry. With a B.A.Sc. from the University of Waterloo in 1993 and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2000, Jeff has been a Principal at DIALOG since 2005. Over the past decade with DIALOG, Jeff has worked on many exciting projects across the province, with a particular focus on bridges, university buildings and hospitals. In his tenure as President, Jeff led CEA through a planning process to renew its vision, focus on new strategic priorities, and develop a rolling three-year plan that leaves the organization well positioned to tackle the challenges of the future.
